Need a Transit Visa?

A transit visa is an official document that allows you to transit for up to 48 hours through a Canadian airport and can be valid for 1 or 2 entries.

You need a transit visa if you’re from a visa-required country AND:

• your flight stops at a Canadian airport on its way to another country

• you will be connecting between 2 flights at a Canadian airport

• you will transit through Canada in 48 hours or less

• you don not have a valid visitor visa

You cannot apply for a transit visa if you are from a visa-required country and crossing the border by means other than air (e.g., bus, car, train, boat, cruise ship)
