📅 Effective November 8, 2024:
- Hourly wage increases by 20% median wage in each province/territory
- More jobs subject to stricter low-wage stream rules
- Added employer requirements for housing and transportation 🏠
🗣️ Minister of Employment Randy Boissonnault:
- "This change reinforces our commitment to protecting temporary foreign workers, while prioritizing the Canadian workers available to join the labour force"
💼 Starting October 28, 2024:
- Employers can't use attestations from accountants/lawyers for business legitimacy
- Enhanced data sharing to ensure only legitimate job offers are approved.
- Ongoing monitoring for misuse and fraud to ensure compliance.
🔍 Forecasted Changes:
- Up to 34,000 positions may shift from the high-wage to low-wage stream
- May lead to 20,000 fewer approved positions through the TFW Program.
